Our goal at Ora Pets is to create pet products with purpose. Products that make life easier and more enjoyable for your dog and help you, their adoring dog mom or dad, along the way. We are passionate about our products, all of which have been designed around the particular needs of small to medium-sized dogs and have been thoroughly tested by our own dogs who use them every single day. All Ora Pets products are locally made and handcrafted in Cape Town, South Africa and we are proud to be able to play a part in the happiness of your furkids.
Meet Our New Girl Boss – Kirst
Kirst is a proud dog mom, a little bit of a workaholic, and a whole lot of heart. Her two furbabies, Annie and Ben, are the inspiration behind everything she does. When Ben, her gentle Rough Collie, was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia at a young age, Kirst made it her mission to adapt their home and lifestyle so he could live his happiest, comfiest life. For her, quality of life isn’t just important—it’s everything. With nearly 10 years of experience managing manufacturing businesses, Kirst brings a mix of business brains and creative flair to Ora Pets. She will be the eye behind every colour, design, and detail, making sure each product is not only beautifully made but also practical and pup approved. When chatting with Ora Pets, there’s a good chance it’ll be Kirst’s friendly voice on the other side.
Meet Our Head of Ops – Luke
Luke is the engine that keeps our little pack running smoothly—and according to Annie, he’s her absolute favourite human. He’s our “get-it-done” guy, with a knack for turning big ideas into real-life products. With 8 years of experience in operations, logistics, and management, plus a natural talent for design and product development, Luke is the steady hand behind the scenes making sure everything works like a dream.
When he’s not streamlining processes or building the next big thing for Ora Pets, you’ll find him and Annie off on their next adventure—beach walks, kayaking, skateboarding, or hiking. These two are truly two peas in a pod.
Ben – The Schedule Manager (AKA Top Dog)
Ben, our little tri-coloured Rough Collie (often mistaken for a Sheltie), is the heart of our daily routine. Diagnosed with elbow dysplasia at a young age, he’s inspired many of our mobility-friendly product features. His main duties include waking everyone up with a kiss, announcing when it’s time to go home, and making sure the humans get their 8 hours of sleep. He’s a cuddle expert, beach-walk enthusiast, and firm believer in the power of a good nap.
Annie – The Head Girl
Annie, our golden rescue girl, was meant to be a temporary foster—but the moment she arrived, we knew she was family. She’s the embodiment of love, resilience, and loyalty, always at our side and keeping an eye on everything. Annie loves swimming, sunbathing, and daily walks with Nana. She’s also our chief “quality control officer,” making sure each product passes the comfort and coziness test before it leaves our workshop.
Founder and Original Girl Boss: Tara
Inspired by her own two French Bulldogs and their particular travel and mobility needs, Tara founded Ora Pets in September 2016. Her passion and drive to give her furkids an all-around better life experience lead her to design the Woof Seat and Woof Stairs in quick succession because she simply could not find products locally that were completely suitable. The Woof Seat was designed to make car travel more accessible for puppies and small to medium-sized dogs and the Woof Stairs to help dogs move on and off couches and beds with ease. While our product line is growing all the time, two things will never change: each product will be designed with purpose in mind and each one will be put through its paces by the ultimate bosses at Ora Pets, Remi Calliope and Savannah Rose. If they don’t like something, it doesn’t go into production.
Dog Boss #1: Remi Calliope
Smaller than your average Frenchie, what she lacks in size, Remi makes up for in personality. She is fearless and full of life, loves all humans and even loves her little sister (aka Dog Boss #2). Remi is obsessed with squeaky ducks and delights in waking her humans up in the middle of the night when she rolls onto said duckies (not the most pleasant wake-up call). Partial to gardening (not always in a good way) and biltong dust, Remi recommends the 2-Step and 3-Step Woof Stairs as she has fused ribs and struggles to move on and off the couch and bed.
Dog Boss #2: Savannah (Savi) Rose
Savannah spent her first 6 months disproving that all Frenchies were as well behaved as Remi. She is obsessed with balls and loves nothing more than waking her humans up by dropping said ball onto their faces. While she maintains a rough and tumble little sister exterior, Savi’s a bit of an old soul – gentle and aware of everything around her. Savi’s favourite product is the Woof Seat Deluxe because it always means adventure, a chance to get her paws dirty while making new friends and a nice snuggle with her big sister on the way home.
